This is a time to think wisely as a eco-conscious consumer, as well during this very interesting time in the economy.
Buy Local.
Support your neighborhood shops, purchase gift cards, be mindful of the where items originated from. Support Fair Trade companies. Shop on-line!
Consumption.
Keep it simple. Take time to think about the gifts you are giving. Prepare a budget and stick to it.
Wrapping Gifts.
Begin by wrapping gifts without wrapping paper. Think of fun ways to “wrap” gifts. Recycle a fabric tote bag, two gifts in one. Be creative, look around your home. Always fun to think out of the box when preparing your gifts.
Peace.
Take time during the busy time of year to enjoy the beauty of the season, to cherish friends and family, to be grateful.
Our very best for a beautiful holiday season and super 2010!

At times the counter got messy from all the chopping & dicing…but thankfully in my bag of supplies I had my new set of OK Kitchen accessories from Organic Pure Life. My OK Kitchen set included 2 kitchen towels, a dish cloth, and a pot mitt all made from 100% organic cotton ($26). What’s good about organic cotton is that it’s grown WITHOUT the use of harmful chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers. And the threads are colored with low impact dyes.
The towels were very absorbent for wiping up spills and drying dishes. My favorite accessory from the set though is the pot mitt! It’s very plush and created a protective shield so I wouldn’t burn my hand when I moved scalding hot pans in and out of the oven.
Check out the wide variety of personal & home products Organic Pure Life has to offer. And remember, you’re helping replenish and maintain soil fertility by going organic & sustainable in the kitchen. A healthy home = a happy planet!

Environmental Working Group Names Soleo Organics Number 1 and Badger Sunscreen Number 2 Best Suncreen
Does your sunscreen work? EWG’s investigation of 470 beach and sport sunscreens finds that 3 out of 5 contain chemicals that may pose health hazards or don’t adequately protect skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Some of the worst offenders are leading brands like Coppertone, Banana Boat, and Neutrogena.
More Americans than ever are using sunscreen to protect from sunburn and guard against skin cancer. Top choices include products with high SPF ratings, and that are waterproof or that advertise “broad spectrum” protection.
Most people trust that the claims on the bottle will ensure that the product truly protects their health and their families’. Nothing could be less certain. Until FDA strengthens and finalizes sunscreen safety standards first drafted 31 years ago, consumers can’t be confident that products on store shelves are safe and effective.
Environmental Working Group found 55 sunscreens claiming SPFs from 55-100+ that might tempt you to stay out longer in the sun, but they block just 1 to 2% more sunburn rays than an SPF 30 sunscreen. These products violate FDA’s sunscreen safety standards.
Five percent of high SPF sunscreens (SPF of at least 30) protect only from sunburn (UVB radiation), and provide poor protection from UVA, the sun rays linked to skin damage and aging, immune system problems, and potentially skin cancer. FDA does not require that sunscreens guard against UVA radiation.
Both Soleo Organics and Badger Sunscreen are sold at organicpurelife.com

We recently attended a lecture of the amazing Dr. Andrew Weil. Dr. Weil spoke about good health throughout your life. He left us with some great tips which we will share with you below. One tip which Dr. Weil stressed is especially helpful during this tough time is to laugh. Turn off your televisions, try not to listen to the news, and find joy and laughter. What great advise! We were also given the very sound advise on how to move into life as you age, one must exercise. Dr. Weil stressed that he is not asking that we run a marathon. Simply to move. Garden, walk, do some form of exercise every day. Dr. Weil said that if we paid attention to our diets, we would all be a heck of a lot better off as a society. He shared with the audience that many hospitals in the U.S have fast food restaurants on site! To age gracefully one should take omega 3 and vitamin d daily, eat a balanced diet, exercise, laugh, and breath. Dr. Weil taught us a simple breathing exercise which truly calms the nervous system. Breath through your nose with your mouth closed, count to five, and breath out of your mouth counting to five. Simple. Easy. They way life should be.
Peace.

Organic Pure Life recently had the pleasure of participating in the February 4, 2009 blog party for the release of the book: “Honey I Don’t Have a Headache Tonight.” We were invited through the blog yourimpactmatters.com. Here is the blog regarding our shipping:
“Organic Pure Life
Organic Pure Life strives to have a low impact on the environment in the products they carry and the use of recycled shipping materials used to ship from organicpurelife.com. The samples they’ve offered today in the giveaway came packaged in recycled cardboard (which I plan to reuse and forward on to one of our winners), something I found almost as pleasing as the products they sent!”
We would like to thank yourimpactmatters.com for the opportunity to participate in the book release blog party, as well as doing their part for the environment by reusing our recycled shipping materials. Making our world greener one shipping box at a time!
